Driver CPC
Thamesdown Transport is Swindon's local bus company and its driver development team is staffed by a team of qualified driving instructors.
Our site is approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training to deliver PCV Driver CPC Periodic Training and all of driver development team are approved by JAUPT to deliver the courses that we have registered.
Certificate of Professional Competence
If you passed your PCV driving test prior to September 2008 you have until September 2013 to obtain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) which you will need in order to continue to drive commercially after that date.
You will need to complete 35 hours of Periodic Training and have this training recorded with the Driving Standards Agency in order to get your DQC.

7 hours - The Safe Carriage of Passengers
7 hours - SAFED (Safe & fuel Efficient Driving)
7 hours - Defensive driving Theory
7 hours - Defensive driving practical
7 hours - PCV Safety skills.

PCV Driving Licence Acquisition Training
Drivers wishing to obtain a bus licence (Category D) have to pass a number of different tests before being allowed to drive commercially and these are split into 4 modules:1. Theory and Hazard Perception Tests
2. Practical Driving Test
3. Case Studies Test
4. CPC Practical Test
We can provide all of the necessary training on a commercial basis which would lead to you obtaining an automatic licence.
We regret that we do not offer training for a manual licence.
